Rolf Nykmark – baritone Nykmark has attended Master Classes with Birgit Nilsson (Sweden), Thomas Hemsley, Laura Sarti (England), and Karl Heinz Pinhammer (Germany). Thorough studies of Italian Opera and the Bel Canto technique/ school and interpretation with chorus master (Oslo Philharmonic Chorus) and professor Oskar Raaum, who was himself a student under the ledgendary Italian baritone Riccardo Stracciari (Wikipedia) in Rome, Aureliano Pertile i Milan and Pierre Bernac in Paris. |

Nykmark studied opera at the Opera School in Stockholm, Sweden with mezzo
Margareta Bergström and stage directors Knut Hendriksen and Ann Margret
Petterson from the Royal Operahouse in Stockholm. Nykmark also studied opera i Vienna with professor Sena Jurinac (Wikipedia). He gave his debut as a singer of Art Songs in the University Festival Hall in Oslo, Norway together with composer and pianist Wolfgang Plagge. Nykmark has given numerous recitals and has been soloist in many masses, oratorios and cantatas. Various operas (also Turandot by Puccini in Bergen and Oslo with Vest Norges Opera), concerts and festivals in Norway (also in Edvard Griegs home at Troldhaugen/ Bergen), Sweden, England (Thaxted Festival, Essex), Holland (Holland Festival, Residentie Orchestra), Italy (Florence with Latvia Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra), USA (thirteen recitals in Chicago, Madison, Rochester, Decorah, La Crosse and Minneapolis) and Japan 2000, (recitals in Tokyo, Chiba, Sapporo and concert in Suntory Hall, Tokyo with the Nordic Ensemble of Japan). Recordings: “Romantic Songs” (Schubert and Brahms) with the Norwegian alto Ragnhild Groven and pianist Wolfgang Plagge. “Tonebilder” with pianist Ivar Anton Waagaard. Single CD with the Norwegian composer Henning Sommerro. “Nordic Songs” (Grieg and Gustaf Nordqvist) with pianist Audun Kayser. Nykmark has performed on several occations for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) both on radio and on television. He sang the solopart for baritone in the Christmas Oratorio by J.S. Bach in Oslo with musicians from the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra in December 2002 and in February and October 2003 he was a soloist in Messa da Gloria by Puccini, St, Cecilia Mass by Gounod and Requiem by C. Saint-Saëns with Bergen Opera Choir and musicians from Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. Rolf Nykmark has received economic support from numerous private and officials funds. |
